I have a Rubicon 2004 with stock tires.. I bought a Blackline Plow that you can apply Down pressure (up to 600 lbs to it), but I thought that I need better traction since I do plan on plowing snow and doing at little landscaping next summer. I also do a fair amount of trail riding in the summer so I wanted an all around trail/snow/mud tire. I heard ITP has a new Tire this year (I think) called Mud Lite XTR, it's not the same as the other Mud LIte because its a radio type tire, but the real problem here is the cost, about $110 a tire. The other Tire I was looking at is also new this year, its SwampLite Tire..... It's seems to be really close to the Mud Lite (Standard kind) but is cheaper and lighter (I think) but I don't know much more than what the web set was bragin about them. I did look at the ITP 589's too, and like them, but looking at them seems a little rough trail riding. Any other sugestions?

 

I too am looking very hard at the Supergrip Superlite and believe me, I do heavy research before I buy anything for my quad. This sounds like the ticket: cheap, exact same tread pattern as the ITP Mudlite, tougher rubber compound than the ITP so it should last longer and supposedly weighs the same, which is remarkable for a mud tire. What more could you honestly ask for?

 

Hey Red, Did you buy or find a tire you like? If you did, what kind and where did you get the best deal?
This place, if you call them will give great deals and free shipping this month too, but I'm sure their is other places that will give you the same or better prices too.

You said "all around" so here is my pick. On my Ranchers I run ITP Holeshot ATR's on light ITP 12X7" aluminum rims. It makes it a whole new machine, and the light tire/wheel combination doesn't rob power like heavyweights do. http://www.itptires.com/holeshotatr.html

The ATR has a reputation for being an excellent snow tire, and I agree (yes, we do have LOTS of snow in our California mountains!). They do well in hardpack and soft loamy soil as well. The one place they aren't so wonderful is sand. I am talking dune type sand here, but for the occasional run down a streambed they are just fine.

I can't however say much about their performance in mud. We just don't have much mud to speak of out here (which is just fine with me). The blocks on the rear are widely spaced, so at least they don't pack up with mud like some tires do.

 

We put Maxxis Big Horn radials on our rubicon, excellent snow tire. They ride smoot as glass and with over 1000 miles they show very little wear.

If they made them to fit our Rancher, I would prt them on it too.

 

I was referring to SUPERlites, not Swamplites, but these seem pretty good too.
