sorry, i guess i stand corrected. you have the '06 and I dont. i have the 04 but i just dont recall seeing anything about them taking it off. i guess i was on crack, dude. my bad. but i think they should have left it on for 06.
have you raced an 04/05 with or without HRC kit? the 06 stock is supposed to spank the earlier models WITH the HRC kit. the 06 with the HRC kit is said to be amazing. they should have made the 06 in 04!

Yamaha 450?
Hahahahahahahaha -
Some kid has a new one and he won a free set of tires at one of our raffles or something. Anyway, he brought his super fast new Yamaha 450 into the shop -
And we have this old beater TRX400EX in the shop, one of the mechanics rides.
And we have a nice little grass drag strip in front of the shop, this was a classic.
They line up, and BAM off they go.
Our tech pops a wheelie off the line, I crap as I thought we were toast. Sheit, he ride the wheelie right next to the dude well into second, looking right over at him.
Then he dropped the front end and opened up the throttle - and ran away from the Yamaha.
Perfect, one of those perfect races.
And he backed it up in two more runs -
Never saw the dude on the Yamaha again, heard he blew the motor shortly afterward.
And our beater TRX400EX -
Bo's ride is not really a beater, has the hottest cam he could get, stroker cranks, big bore - I think we ended up at 460cc. I pocket ported the head, nice pipe and proper jetting, it runs great.
The 06TRX450ER with the HRC kit is quicker.
And we find they seem to start better, idle better and just run better with a 50/50 mix of race gas and normal gas.
:-)
I have seen more than a few connecting rod bearings sieze - watch that oil and change it alot.
Anyone running any moly in the crankcase or anything else to prolong the life of that bearing???
