reverse light for ruby
#1
Anyone hooked up a reverse light on there ruby? I have almost completed mine but I ran out of day light. The question I have is, does anyone know where the switch is that tells the gauge cluster when it is in reverse. I need this wire to go to the relay I am using to turn the light on? Any help would be great.

Ok I fingered it out. If you want to put a reverse light on your ruby here is how it’s done. Mine is an 01 pretty sure it will work with newer. First disconnect batt you then need to find the shift selector switch plug which is under your recoil start access cover just in front of the r/h rear tire. There are 4 wires gray, light blue with a white stripe, white, and light green. Cut the gray wire on the frame side of the plug and splice in a wire, this will be your signal wire to a relay to turn on the light. Next decide if you want to run the light directly off the batt or of the bikes lights. I ran it off the batt so you will need 2 relays. I mounted all the relays by the fuse box under the seat. Running the light off the bikes lights will be easier but I didn’t want to cut too many wires on the bike so I used two. Run a power wire from fuse box ( so you only get power when key is on) to the signal side of the first relay, hook a ground wire to the other signal side pin on the first relay. Next run power from batt to switch side of first relay and run a power from the other switch side pin on the first relay to the switch side on the second relay, from the switch side pin on the second relay that is left run that to the light, ground light to frame. Now run the wire you spliced off the shift selector to the signal side of the second relay (the shift switch wire is a ground) run a power wire to the other pin of the signal side on the second rely now your done. Using two relays lets you hook the light up to the batt so there is no chance of overloading your bikes wire harness. Hope this is not to confusing and good luck
