Sorry to chime in as I don't own one - yet. Yes they have the switch. The 05s are going for 5699 within 2 hours from here. I wouldn't be happy with it if was my only quad, but I would likely put more miles on that if I had it too (my plan).
Don't worry, [mud] will be slung on this machine before the thread dies.

I too am considering purchasing the 05 Rincon. I also am considering the 05 King Quad or Grizzly. I am searching for feedback on all 3 of these machines as well. I was at the dealers last night and yes the 05 Rincon has a 2wd & 4 wd switch. The dealer I was at is asking $6,699. I may have to plan a ski trip up your way and pick up my Rincon there for $1,000 less. Where in CT are you located?

No mud throwing here, but after putting 1200 miles on an 03 Rincon, I think I have some valid opinions. I loved the machine, fast, smooth, handles well on trails. Unlike others, I loved the tranny. Not for hauling heavy things, but for hauling ****. The tranny kept the engine in the sweet spot, even with only 3 speeds, especially after installing the DynoJet kit. However, out west here, on the steep, rutted, whooped downhills, it was a dangerous machine. The front collapses, and the rear pushes up and endo's. I sold it so I would not die on that machine. Depending on the riding you're going to do, it could be great, or it could be life-threatening. There's many posts on here and on the Rincon Forum with pros and cons.

Megan,
Read Lance's "06 Rincon review at atvscene.com. He claims the '06 Rincon has improved engine braking to go along with it's new disc brakes and that he didn't have a problem with it. You can also see pics of his very modified and bad a$$ KQ at this site (that he sold or is selling):

I responded to a post from you and others at the "Honda" forum too.....because I am in the same boat, those two websites have also been helpful along with ridethered.net. I am torn about as torn could be torn so don't take this like I am leaning Rincon but going to those sites has opened my eyes that I believe the Rin to be a great machine. It isn't talked about here because most people that utilize forums are the most dedicated people to that particular subject. Those people usually don't spend a lot of time here and riding not to have the best or close to it. I believe the Rincon owners who say it is one heck of a comfortable ride and the reliabilty is def there. Now whether it will suit you in the mountains is a ? I would ask to Rincon owners like at ridethered.net
It is just like propnut said on how there will be mud slinging towards the Rincon. (Although I am surprised that there hasn't been).....I know I am a rookie but I am one educated rookie at that.....and I am not quickly dismissing the Rincon because it isn't the fastest in the world and it doesn't have a locker or the best engine braking. I hear that it is comfortable, stable, reliable, plenty powerful enough....and it doesn't have a belt.
Because I am w/n a day's driving distance of southernhonda(.com) and abernathy's(online.com), I could get a Rincon very close in price to a KQ since they sell Honda and for a Suzuki I would get it here in St. Louis at a dealer here that doesn't volume sell like those two......so price isn't an issue.

and to the KQ......if the air filter issue dies down and it is truely an issue of spending $30 on an aftermarket one and some grease then that will be a hard quad to pass up........maybe not to some, but this is a hard decision and why I am here almost everyday.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. The reason I was gonna do a 05 and not a 06 because for the price of a 06 Rincon I could pretty much have a 06 Outlander XT which is my first choice. The dealer we go to for servicing, maintenance, etc.. on our jet skis and Jeffs BF does not sell the Outlander so I figured it would be too much of a pain to have to go too 2 different places. Although in all of the research I am doing on all of these quads nothing is exciting me like the Outlander so I am swinging back towards it for now. We will see what tomorrow brings

It is ashame that you live so far away because 4-5 hrs from me is Abernathy's in TN and Southern Honda in TN as well and their websites list their prices with no haggling when you get there.
Southern Honda lists an '05 Rincon brand new for $5,583 and brags on how that IS the OTD price including no sales tax for out of state residents. Take a look..... it is southernhonda.com
I would like to add the BRP 800 to my KQ and Rin decision but it is too expensive when including what I could get a Rincon for thanks to those 2 dealers in TN and maybe one in my home state of MO.
