Default Honda rincon 05

sorry Megan...wasn't trying to talk you into the KQ, or anyone else....just responding to 2sly4u. He actually sent me a PM and is thinking of an '05 Rincon and is against a KQ as well. Again, NOT trying to talk anyone into that quad...I don't even know if I am getting it, BUT there is another side to it. Go to any of those other forums and you will see hundreds of people with no problems....some have spent the $30 for a new air filter and sealing grease and some haven't. Remember that all quads have problems and it looks like on the KQ that it is an EASY fix. I do feel sorry for the folks that didn't know it in the beginning....it isn't their fault!

I am GLAD that you are getting the quad you want! I think that is key and that is why I am on here so often trying to cut through the rumors and bs to really educate myself on what is the best quad for ME and my price range! It looks like you found yours but one thing I disagree with a little is that looking at your picture you probably don't even weigh 125 lbs.....just a handful of yrs ago grown men weighing 300 lbs rode 350cc and pushed snow with them. I doubt very seriously that you will be underpowered on a 680cc Rincon or a 700cc KQ or any other quad even remotely close to that. I just think there is no possible way of that happening.

Again, I think it is phenominal that you found your quad and the most important thing is that you are happy!

Megan,

Cool. Go for it. You will have to post here after you've had it a while and let us know if the Outlander is what it is cracked up to be.

Also, I would guess that visco lok is probably their trademarked name for their limited slip system, so I don't think other brands will use that term...

JeffinTD, I think "Visco-lok" is theirs, but viscous couplings are not. Honda should do this on all their 4X4s.

Megan, have you heard about the Outander 650?

Yeah I am super excited about getting one but they are hard to find. I want the 800 Outlander XT 1 up not 2 up. I want it in red or yellow. No green or camo. NO ONE has it and I have called EVERWHERE DE, MD, NJ, PA, WV, VA. They either have just the regular 800 not XT or they have the max or they have the XT in green. I did find a place earlier today that had a yellow XT but then I got to thinking if I am going to fork out all this $$$$ it sure would help if I could trade in my 06 Honda TRX250EX that I just bough a month and a half ago. I have an add for it in the local paper, bargainer, this forum, and another one. I have gotten 1 phone call and one email. So this dealer told me they were not interested in my trade so I then called the dealer closest to me who said he could get me a red one some time next week, but he only sells Bombs and is not interested in my trade either. So now I have another whole dilema not only am I trying to locate a quad that is hard to find but I also want them to let me trade in my TRX250EX. I know I would be better off selling it myself but I just spent alot of money on it and now I am getting something again sooo soon so being able to do the trade will help tremendously since I am paying cash.
I am aware of the 650. That is what I originally wanted but it will not be out until Feb/Mar and it actually weighs 10 more Lbs than the Outlander. So I figure what the heck I might as well go w/ the 800. The less it weighs the better for me as I am not as tall nor do I weigh as much as probably 3/4 of the people riding them. Here is a link to Bombardiers site. Here you can get all of the info and specs on both the 800 and 650. I am on it everyday, several times a day drooling and keeping my fingers crossed

Megan, if you have not been to this site, it might help enlighten you some on the Bomb. Do some searching and you can find some pros and cons on it. He seems to have found a major weak spot on the frames. Hope this helps and good luck. http://www.atvonlinemagazine.com/

I have had my Rinny for over 2 years and 1900 miles. Had it in the dunes, mountains, mud and trails. Trouble free. There are probably better and faster bikes out there but they are belt driven and I intend to shy away from them. I don't like the whiny sound. I like to feel the tranny shift. And I don't have to pull a drain plug. Not trying to start a war here, just saying that I like everything about it. The lack of major engine braking is a non issue. Put 600 miles on it this past summer in the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado with the wife sitting behind me. If it had an engine like the Bomb or Brute, it would really be a complete no brainer.

Thanks Duramax,
I will check out that site. The president of my ATV club told me to get a Rincon but the feedback that I get and that you just confirmed is that it has a lack of engine power. He also told me not to get a 1st year quad and too waite for them to work out all of the bugs. The thing is that the Rincons are not exactlly cheap either and in my opinion the Bomb has features that I like better. Plus I think the XT version just looks sooo sweet. We will see.

Again......a 680cc quad not having enough power for an individual that weighs a little over 100 lbs?

Am I missing something here? I don't know....I mean to each his or her own and that what makes it ONLY your decision BUT I don't understand the argument of not enough power?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Yeah, almost everything you have mentioned (and I for that matter) has been a first year model and I guess that is just a risk to take.....I wouldn't let that stop you.

I am sure that anything over 650cc is going to be enough power for me. I have been doing my research in depth this time. When I bought my first quad my fiance kept wanting me to get one and I had no desire. Finally I was like fine. Now I LOVE it and could not thank him enought for getting me into this sport. I do not want to make the mistake that I made in purchasing my TRX250EX though. I had no clue about quads and had never even driven one. I outgrew it in less than a month. I have since been driving the 360 Prarie and have had that thing WOT several times and it is not enough power to keep up w/ the boys in my club on straight aways. When we are on the trails it is fine since it has 4x4 and we are not going as fast. That Prarie weighs 605 Lbs. That is the same weight as the 650cc+ models so I might as well get something w/ a little a$$. Besides in all of my research I keep coming back to the Outlander. It has IRS, ERI, visco lok, and I love the looks of the XT package. I would most likely change the tires sooner or later and I would get a skid plate asap. We will see I will keep you updated, but I am getting a new quad SOON! I do appreciate everyones advice. Thanks.

There is no way that a Rincon is underpowered! My Foreman 450 is not underpowered! They both weigh the same. I weigh 238 lbs. Whoever said it is underpowered has not ridden one or else they have an 800 Bomb. Nothing has that kind of power but why would you need it. Only for drag racing.

Megan, are you sure you're ready for something as powerful as a Bomb 800? You're obviously new to the sport of ATV'ing and have very little experience.

I realize you outgrew your 250EX very quickly, but going from a 250EX to a Rincon is a huge step. Going from a 250EX to a Bomb 800 might be downright dangerous. The 800 is not a beginner's bike, it really should be driven by an experienced rider, which you are not.

If you really want a Bomb, wait for the Outty 650. The engine will be a little more manageable for an inexperienced rider.

I realize it's your money and you can do what you want with it, but no way are you ready to ride a 650cc big bore, let alone an 800. Riding a 250EX for a month does not make you ready to handle one of those machines.

I just don't want you to get hurt.
