If you are riding trails a spark arrestor is a good, if not required, item.
A spark arrestor prevents sparks from exiting your muffler. These sparks can and have caused forest fires. Here in the state of Washington an 18 year old is being held responsible for a 1000+ acre fire for riding without a spark arrestor and causing a fire. If he is found liable he will have to pay for all costs of fighting the fire.
If you ride trails you need a spark arrestor!
