On the right side of Recon tranny in the back of the case, there is a chrome-colored hex plug about an inch wide. What does it go to? What's it for? Thanks.

The only hex plug I know of is on the left side, This is for checking the timing mark, when adjusting valves and such.

I believe it is for timing. The crank is behind this "plug". When the engine is running you take a timing light and shine it on the flywheel. You can see little letters and lines. These tell you if it is timed, if you understand how to read them. Best left to the dealer to work on.
