Default rancher problem

is this a rancher 350 or 400AT?? Both systems are completely different and it's hard to help you out unless we know which one.

I had a problem similar to this, would come to a hill and the quad would "freewheel" all the way down the hill unless you hit the throttle and got the RPM's up to engage the centripetal clutch, replaced it and its fine now

Sounds like a bad one way bearing in your clutch.
