Default Where to mount switch on WARN 424

Im looking ot mount a warn 424 on my rancher. Since foremans and other hondas are pretty similar.
Can a warn 424 control switch be mounted on the handle bars and be used fairly effieceintly like a factory switch or should I mount some other place?

Thanks

No, the cable is big and stiff and it would cause nothing but problems up on your bars (cable is to short anyway). It goes just to the left of the bars, and is in a pretty convenient location. Very easy to shift on the fly.

Would be nice if someone made an electric aftermarket shifter for these, so you could just have a button up on the bars!!!

You might do a search here on this forum. Litegide, member’s name, mounted his release **** in the little compartment to the left of the handle bars. It's not something for quick access, unless you take the lid off in advance of riding, but it is esthetically pleasing to the eye that way. Just do a search for WARN 424 and you should find a post with a no so focused picture in it.

i mounted mine on my front rack, bought a couple u-bolts and nuts so i wouldnt have to drill into the plastic. it's a little far to reach, but it's at least out of the way so i dont accidently engage it into 4wd at the wrong time.

You can just see mine in my avatar, mounted to the left of the bars on the high part of the front fender plastic.

It is hard for me to tell from that small avitar, but where is your 12 volt accessory outlet? Maybe your particular model doesn't have one? On my ES model, it is located right where your 424 **** is.

I mounted mine on the right side of the handlebars so that it was out of the way of the 12 volt outlet. At least on this side you can be certain that you won't engage it while your wheels are spinning because of using your throttle hand to engage it.
