Default help my rancher from getting stuck in sandy creeks

west Virginia is called the mountain state. in case you didn't know Ohio is right next to this state. if it is wet out may be on a steep hill you cant hit hard and you might break traction, but give me a few tries ill find a way up.
in case you didn't know about a thing called momentum.( guess you never been on a quad hah?), i swear it helps out . just don't be afraid to shoot the gas sometimes. ya in your nice 4-wheel drive you might be able to crawl up a hill . but i promise i will meet you at the top.

You can talk till yuor blue in the face but I can bet any money that no one here will agree that your 2wd rancher can go up any steep hills that the 4wd's can. Yes momentum helps but without traction momentum means nothing.

2manytoys,

Have you ridden a recon or rancher 2x4? These quads will go in some hairy areas. I not saying my recon is a 4x4 but it will hang with the best unless its really bad and then I just get a 4x4 to pull me, heheheheh.

Thats cool. Better tires will definately help and a bigger size will also but you will lose bottom end torque if you go to a bigger tire. Maybe if you go up 1 size you wont notice much but then again you only gain 1/2 inch of ground clearance. A lift kit really does nothing because you will not gain any clearance in the rear. Only tire size will gain the clearance. If you think you need more power then bigger tires will make it worse.

Im not saying the rancher cant do these things Im just saying a 4wd will do it better. Im comming off a 2wd and it has always amazed me how far i can push it but like you said when it gets really bad the 4wd will pull you out.

Bear claws are an excellent tire as well as the ITP mudlites. I had the ITP's on my 2wd and it was night and day difference in every aspect.
