I am new to this forum, but in highlifter i am bruteman something? Haha don't remember.. Any who, i kinda ragged on my rincon yesterday. Almost sunk it in a creek had to hold it wide open a long time, lot of grunting and pushing but she came out, i just can't get it into reverse now, it will just grind, so to my two questions? 1. Will it hurt grinding it and what would it do? 2. How do i adjust the idle, because i am pretty sure that is the problem? Thanks

There is no idle adjustment that I know of. I haven't looked to be 100% sure, but I can look and let you know tomorrow.
As far as the grinding, did you slam it back and forth between Drive and Reverse to get unstuck? Once the gears start grinding, your usually out of luck. You may be able to fix it w/ a cable adjustment (on the 650s the adjustment is under the fuel tank, not sure if thats the case w/ the 680), but if not you will need to remove the rear engine cover and replace the engagement gears in the sub-tranny. If the dogs on the gears are rounded, Honda will not cover this under warranty. I have replaced a few of these myself in the shop and we were able to get them covered under warranty early on. Now Honda has stopped paying for this because it is caused by putting the machine into gear when the idle is too high, the machine is not at a complete stop, or jaming the lever back and forth trying to get unstuck. Warranty covers DEFECTS, this is not a defect. Your dealer should have educated you on this issue during the pre-delivery of the machine (I say should because some dealers just hand over the keys and forget who you are before you even get out of the parking lot w/ your new machine). If your dealer can somehow get this fixed at no cost to you, buy the service manager dinner and consider yourself lucky.
