i just got a 2001 300ex a few weeks ago and all i have in it is a k@N air filter and i was woundering what mods would be good for it i was thinking about getting a pipe for it but i ride near houses and dont want anything loud and i will be doing the mods myselfe so i dont want to do anything to difficult thanx

 

I would say go with an exhaust system that comes with a quite core and definatly Jet it with no air box lid. Those are both simple things you can do your self. Hope this helps

My favorite mod, has been the reverse limiter over ride. It allows starting in reverse, and eliminates the very low rev limiter in reverse.
I have mine wired with a switch, so when the kids ride it, I put the rev limiter back on.

Right next to the motor, by the right foot peg, are two switches. They are the neutral and reverse switches. There are two wires coming back, from them, and over the frame, and into a wire bundle on the left side. The green wire is for nuetral and the reverse wire is grey. You can use a skotchlock to tap into it, or make a jumper, or wire in a switch. One side of the wire taps into the grey wire, one goes to ground. When its grounded out, the reverse light wont work anymore, but youll be able to start up the motor in reverse, and the rev limiter is now the same as the forward gears use. No more sputtering in reverse, when attempting to get unstuck from a mud pit.
