Default Best tires for recon

I need some advice on tires, i have a 2001 recon and its still got the stock tires on and they might as well be drag slicks. i need to know a good size and a good mud tire that the recon will still be able to turn over. i got about 2 months to get them because i had a wreck on the recon on 2-19 and broke my collar bone so i'm thinking of jetting the recon and adding a K&N since i wont be riding for awhile.

I had 22" Maxxis Sur Traks on the rear of my Recon, and they were AMAZING. They are a perfect tire for the Recon, they have good forward traction, they are very durable and long lasting, they corner very nicely and are easily to slide around when you want to, and they're not much, if any heavier than the stock tires. I have a picture of my recon with the Sur Traks mounted in my <<<gallery, but if you'd like to see some better pics of the rears, just let me know, and i'll be happy to email you some

I had a Megamax 2, K&N filter with outerwears, and a jet kit on my recon and it worked great. It was enough of a difference to allow me to keep up with a stock 250ex in a drag race.

do they make swamp fox tires in smaller sizes though? The smallest i ever saw was 25's, and i'd say that's too big and heavy for a recon. 22's are a good size for it, if you go too tall you gain a lot of weight, and lose low end power/torque from changing the gearing ratios.

I've put Maxxis Razr2s on the rear last year. Love em. They hook up and wear great. Didn't seem to bog the bike down or change the riding characteristics. I need to change out those Dunlops in front for the Razr2s. The rim would need to be changed to the 22 10x5 from an older 250ex. Anyone done this sucessfully? Is the offset OK?

Cheers,
Cache

The lug pattern is different, so 250ex wheels won't work on the front (drum brakes have a tighter lug pattern)

There are several models that offer 4/110 in 10x5... 86-87 TRX250x, 94-95 TRX200ex to name a couple.
