Calling all 450R owners!!
#1
Hey guys i am thinkin about getting a 2005 450r, i can get one new for 4999, that seems like a good deal to me. I have heard a lot of people talkin about how much better the YFZ is. From just looking at them and sitting on them i am leanin more towards the 450R. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That is a killer deal for a new 2005 450R.
I don't know who you have been talking to that say the YFZ is so much better, unless it's Yamaha owners.
The Y and R are very comparable to each other.
You won't be unhappy with the R

I dont see how anyone can just come out and say one is flat out better than the other. People have different riding styles, body type, etc. therefore one may feel better than the other for each rider. I will however give you my opinion. I have had my 450r for almost a year now and let me tell you I absolutely love it. I ride in the Nevada desert and it is a great fit for my type of riding (plus it looks great too). My only recomendation would be to change the front sprocket.

Alright thanx guys i have to admit i am and always have been a yamaha lover. Although i do believe i like the looks of the 450r better, and most importantly i believe over all feel for the bike is better for me. I have a couple other questions if ya dont mind? How is it on hills? and how about trails? MX track? I plan on getting into racing in the near future and i want to set myself up with a bike that will allow me to do both.

Climbing hills with the R is amazing. The power just seems to be unstoppable. Trail riding is great as long as you are not trying to lug around in first gear (I like to move fast through the trails). Cant help you with MX riding (I dont do it).

I ride my 05 R on the track almost every weekend, it is amazing in the turns and over jumps. Last weekend we were out-jumping all the dirt bikes at the dunes. It was great, and my R just sucked it up and kept on haulin. The 06 R is alot better than the 05 but with that low of a price, you can't pass it up.
