Default Rancher wrist pin question

Bummer, worst case scenario. Probably happened when the rings failed and nobody cought it. You might have a case with the company that did the previous repair as well. Hondas don't just wear out the small end, something had to contribute to the wear. If you take care of it, which it sounds like you do, that engine will be around for your grand kids to use.
Good luck

Default Rancher wrist pin question

I live in Raleigh NC but we bought it in Murfreesboro Tenn. When we talked to a dealer here in Henderson they told us to bring it in that the Honda waranty is good anywhere. So maybe it's gonna work out.

Do you think that they will fix it with it only knocking but running good? I know it's not litterly running good, but it cranks right up and you can ride it all day.

I'm sure they will find the problem easy enough, then fixing it is a walkin the part for them. Keep your fingers crossed that its covered under warranty.

Default Rancher wrist pin question

I'm screwed! There is no record thru Honda that my Rancher was repaired under waranty. The Honda guy told me that it seemed it was repaired by honda but not under waranty, that means the damage was done by mis use or something because the waranty didn't cover it. Therefore the waranty is void. He did say that it could be 1% chance that once they tore it down to see what is causing the knock that it could be covered but if it had any thing to do with the previous problem that we would have to cover the bill. I'm sure when they get to the problem which is the clearance in the rod to the wrist pin they are gonna say it happened when the other problem occured. Then make me pay.

We had took it to the honda shop playing stupid and they saw right away that the cyclinder had been replaced and we told them that we had just bought it and didn't know of any repairs.

Can you get any kind of written statement and/or repair documents from the original repairing dealer that detail what was done and that it was done under Honda warranty?
Can you take it back to the dealer in Raleigh and let them do it? They should be helpfull considering they didn't complete the job the first time.
Its worth a try

That's a good question. The dealer punched up the vin # and it showed no waranty work. I'm gonna try and get some documents of what was done and where.
