Default Rancher with some problems

I have a 2000 RancherES 2X4 in the shop. The customer said its stuck in reverse and when you hit the shift buttons it doesn't even try to shift and you can't shift it manually either. It has oil in the bottom of the air box too. Any ideas? Thanks

Ok sounds like the stub shifter may have broken off is side. ( the one that you use to manauly shift it)
you have to disasemble the motor to repair that, but I would take off the front cover first to check the linkage there, remeber these hade a update for shfit plates breaking then getting stuck in 5th.

Far as oil in the air box, cold weather starts and not warming up and just taking off with it and driving. And or custmer putting too much oil in it ( they cann't figure out that it is a dry sump motor and have to run it the check the oil.)

Yeah, it was a farmers machine. So i'm sure they didnt' let it warm up or take care of it in any sort of way. I have yet to see a farmer who takes car of anything they own. No offense.

the oil in the airbox thing could have been the oil that dripped off the air filter.

the dry sump is inside the motor on the left side (where you put the oil in it) They did that to keep the motor from being so tall, that's also why they don't have a over head cam set up on these.

Chuby -
Just so you know, I was not picking on you. Just trying to see if anyone actually realized why, the oil check proceedure. Many Owners don't know because there is no external tank, that this is a dry sump oil system.

Thanks man !
