rebuilding trx 300 gear box, just wondering how too.....
rebuilding the gear box and just wondering how to get the wire out that holds in the needle bearing. i blew apart the bearing where the drive shaft drops in and really messed up the gear box. i didn't think it was possible to break a ball bearing into pieces. anyway, i'm still struggling to remove the lock nut. i welded up a tool that fits perfectly into the lock nut but it just doesn't want to move. any ideas?? thanks - dana

Here's how i done mine if it will help you. Take a small chisel or screwdriver and tap the wire around untill you can get the end pryed up with a small pick, lock onto the end with vice grips and tap out.Its not as easy as it sound so keep at it.and becareful not to hurt the case.

got it!!! took the case to the honda shop to remove the lock nut and they broke out all the needle bearings and told me the case was damaged (thats why they couldn't get out the rest of the needle bearing housing). according to the manual the case needs to be replaced with a new needle bearing for $800 and change. no charge for removing the lock nut (thanks). took the case home and drove a big flat piece of metal into the needle bearing housing and twisted it like a screwdriver and the whole needle bearing housing w/ wire popped right out. the case is now rebuilt and almost ready to go. i'm never going to go back to that shop again. they screw me every time i go there. thanks for your info - dana
