Hey,
I have a 2000 Honda 400ex with the mods listed below, Right now I have the stock tires still on it, but they are almost down to slicks, there real run down. Anyway, I live up in Northern Indiana and we get alot of snow, and I also go to the dunes in Michigan sometimes. I have been told to buy 22" Realitors for winter and sand, and holeshots for in the summer. But another person told me just to buy bandits and they would work for both. Could you guys who have the tires or know some one who does help me out. Thanks

Unless you want to put a smaller sprocket on the front, I'd stay away from 22" tires. I have a set of 20" Blackwaters they are awesome for climbing and slingin' mud. Of course I don't ride my quad in the winter so I don't know how they work in the snow.

How do you like your MegamaxII? I was running mine without the disks, but I didn't like that you can get water in the exhaust because it is angled up at the back. So I put the disks back on. It makes a rattling sound now though. I hear this is common with all disk-style mufflers. I just wanted another owner's opinion. I do miss the quicker throttle response you get from running it open.

thanks for the advice, but aren't blackwaters more for like utility quads, thats the idea i get. I do not like my pipe, there is not really a problem with it, i just feel like the horsepower i should have gained is not there, so i think i might sell it and buy a warner brothers pipe. Any other Ideas about the tires, anyone?

i wouldn't get holeshots. i hear they don't grip very good.i would go with the bandits or maybe get
shredders. i have a pair on my warrior and they grip good.

I have both the 22" Realters and the 22" Bandits for my 400ex. I bought the Bandits for trail riding. I took them out one Saturday to some dunes, BIG MISTAKE. The Bandits are horrible in dry sand. The treads have too tight of a formation. I then bought Realters, and love them. They work great for just about everything - sand, snow, mud and even trail riding. (I will still switch to the Bandits for long trail riding.) 400EXRYDR is correct though, I did have to drop my front sprocket to get the power back, about a 15 minute job.

I knew if i got the 22" realitor, I would lose some low end, but wouldn't I make up for it in top speed. I think it is a trade off there. Well, lets see, I am pretty sure I am going to get the realitors, havn't heard a bad thing yet, but no one is talking about holeshots. Have any of you had problems with them? Should I get HoleShots or bandits for summer and light mud? Thanks

Blackwaters are junk. They won't self clean worth a damn. You need a good tall good self cleaning tire for the winter. one that iwll get to the bottom of the snow, and catch the ground.
I chose 22 inch MAXXIS SurTraks. I am very Very pleased with them so far. I have been riding in snow and mud with them and there is always a great amount of traction to be had. I will be buying a 14 tooth front sprocket soon. THey only run like 10-20 dollars so it is no big deal.
The SurTraks would also be really good in the summer for a good (all around traction) tire. If you won't be racing or anything than I see no need in getting a knobbie type tire. Watch the side bite of the sur traks while whipping cookies though. Do they ever bite! If you feel you want knobbies for the summer though (maybe a shorter tire for more stability). The stock ohtsus give twice the traction that most knobbies do, the downfall is they will wear out fast.

i have the holeshot's xc. i love them. my friend has the realators and they are good. But my personal choose was the holeshots because of the type of riding i do. i never ride in sand if i do it isn't dune sand it is south jersey yellow nasty sand.
