Default 450R axle on 400EX

I took a buddys stock 450r axle out of his garage the other day to see if it was wider than my ex's. It seems to be about an inch wider, it looks like it would be a direct swap but I heard that the 450's have twin bearings on each side of the carrier. Would it probably work tho? I don't know if the extra inch would make much of a difference but for 30 dollars its worth a shot. I have it right now but I havn't paid him yet.

It won't fit, I tried it. They are off by like a 1/4 inch.

I had a plus 4 swingarm for my 400ex. I eyeballed it, and it looked like it would swap. Every part, from the swingarm back, would go on, but be off by a fraction. I swear they did that on purpose.
