Default Air box lid off with o6 hrc install

I just had my 06 trx450 hrc kit installed. The dealer took the airbox lid off. Is this required for the o6 hrc kit? Should I be concerned about dust/water getting in my airbox? Also should I get a sparks slip on muffler or just leave the stock one alone.

You should have gotten the manual that comes with the HRC kit, it will answer all your questions. You will need to clean your air filter much more often.

Yes it is. You can add an EHS Racing lid though that definitely helps. checkout www.ehsracing.com. You must order the complete lid setup for a 2006 450r...other quads have D-I-Y kits.

Highly recomend the EHS Racing lid!!!

The stock muffler performs pretty well, once it is uncorked. But, it is heavy like a brick! An aftermarket one will be pounds lighter........

Instead of taking the lid completely off I cut mine out to look like the 04-05's. I then took an old pair of pantie hose and streach over the lid which covers the hole. It works great and catches the big stuff.
Go to 450.org and do a search on the homemade HRC lid.

Thanks for the info. Would a K and n filter with outerwear cover do the job?

Maybe but you are speaking religion...personally, I fall into the "foam only" camp.
