Do we really need a Honda big bore sport quad?

I agree. My buddy has a brand-new Raptor 700 with a full exhaust system , K&N filter and new EFI programmer and he gets left in the dust all day long by my '06 450R (and my other buddies' YFZ's). He can get through the whoops faster because of the suspension (great stock suspension, it rides like a Cadillac, big and heavy and plush), but I pass him up every hill every time.
I weigh 260 and he's 165. On paper, you'd think he should beat me, but he can't. I love seeing that discouraged look on his face after I smoke him. The thing is, it's a nice machine that can carry large dudes at fast (but not fast enough) speeds, but because of the gearing, it doesn't give any advantage to the smaller riders. They go the same speed.

You're dang right Raider, I'm thumping my chest, to the top of the hill. (LOL) On paper he should be beating me.
The reason he is beating me through the whoops is most riders start so close to the freakin' whoops and I can't get up to speed quick enough (with my size). When we started further back, I can beat him through the whoops because I'm up to speed (running 3rd through the whoops). The other thing is with my size, it's hard to keep the front down on my 450R.
Last time at Gordon's Well, we (about 6 guys from my group and few others) were racing up highway hill and I was racing a guy on a bored '05 450R and a modded out 400EX and some YFZ's and others, I was getting through the whoops about a 1/2 bike length behind on average. One time my front came up and I decided to keep on the gas and hope it would come down, but it bucked me off and continued on up the hill without me. I have to back off the throttle to run the whoops everytime. My buddies say they had the same problem when riding my bike. I think a longer swing arm would definitely help with that. Some day I guess.
Up highway hill I've got him by 2-4 lengths by the top. Maybe that's not smoking him to some, I guess I was tired of gettin' smoked by him on his bored out Banshee all these years. LOL
None-the-less, he can't beat me. We'll be out there for Halloween this year. I'm the Black '06 R with black C-series ITP wheels. I've only seen one other that looks like mine, but he wasn't as big as me.
PS. Damn I wrote a novel. Sorry.

Btw, the 650 would be the perfect powerplant for your desired sport 4x4, as it will be more capable of overcoming the increased drivetrain power losses and turn the larger (23/22") tires through whatever required your 4wd in the first place. And it should be feasible to keep the dry weight under 450.

dunefool,
Those numbers are RWHP number variances. I had the stats in a word doc. Test done by White Bros.
It was not a dyno graph. Only stated.
The 650R was all stock other than the spark arrester core being removed. The CRF was completely stock.
I'm not trying to doubt you either, but those seem to be realistic numbers to me. Actually, I figured the SA removed from the 650 would have improved a bit more than what the test suggested.
