Warranties

why are they only for 6 months? my friend bought a Polaris and said his is for 2 years. Also, took the new ride for a spin last night. Runs smooth, idle a little low and shifts kind of hard. Any suggestions for break in period? thanks

I think the manufacturers offer the shortest warranty they can and still sell ATVs. Warranties give the consumer a sense of confidence in the product that hopefully will overcome any perceived quality concerns. It's the same reason Hyundai and Kia offer long warranties and Toyota and Honda do not.
Honda has established themselves as being a reliable brand and therefore does not need a long warranty to sell their quads. In fact, I would go so far as to say that they probably add a premium to their price for their perceived quality advantage.
Polaris has had some quality issues over the years. It takes a long time to overcome a bad reputation, but once they do, and consumer confidence grows, I'm sure you will see their warranty period shrink.
