Default Warn 424

I'm looking into the 4-2-4 for my Rancher and was just wondering if anyone has had problems with warranty coverage after installing it. I know some dealers look for anything to get you to pay for repairs. I want the lighter steering since I mostly trail ride the bike but can't wait the 3 more years of the warranty coverage!-- (I can't imagine what would go wrong on this thing but just incase) Also where is the cheapest place to buy one?? Thanks in advance!

Frankly, I think it is worth it even if it does void the warranty!

All it should affect is the parts involved, not things like your motor, etc.

I don't believe it would void the warranty but I would contact the dealer. Now if you look at the Moose Utilites web site you will see that the 4-2-4 is a "Honda licensed Product" so I don't think that an accessory that is sold with the Honda name would void the warranty. That last time I checked at the dealer their unit was about $200 higher than I bought mine but I think the dealer price included installation but they are no big deal to install. But still check with the dealer because with the way it is today if it says Warn or Honda may be the difference in warranty coverage.

I asked the salesman at the dealer where I bought my Rancher from and he told me that there would be no problem with my warranty if I installed a 424. The dealer had them on the shelf there but were way high for cost of product and installation.
I happen to be friends with almost everyone at this dealership since they are all "local" guys and I have known a couple of them a long time so maybe that's why they told me that there would be no problems with the warranty.
Anyway, my warranty ran out some months back.
But the 424 is the way to go on a Rancher or any other full time 4wd atv.

Thanks everyone! I'll check with my dealer first but I'm probably just gonna go ahead and get it. They sound like the way to go. Now I just have to wait till I can afford it.

I would check with Honda direct. The dealers BS will vary accordingly. Plus, someone at a given dealer may or may not have the authority to properly answer this question, but otherwise does or doesn't know it, or does not car to find out the actual truth.

But, I'd still put one on. I put one on mine after I had the machine a month and it is two machines in one. Funner to whip around in donuts, and the 424 locks in as soon as you release the ****. I have pictures of my mount in my profile page.

yes i agree, i have an aftermarket warranty still in effect and i put my 424 on right after i bought my machine. It wont void your entire warranty, only parts it affects, like the original shaft, etc and maybe the seals, but it's not that hard to replace the seals if they do go bad, but like another post said, it's a licenced honda accessory so how much damage could it do.

It's the best upgrade for the rancher, hands down. Lots of fun to ride in 2wd.
