Milky colored oil in Recon
#1
My buddy was riding through a foot or so of water on his brand new '01 Recon, and now a couple weeks later, the oil is cloudy. The crankcase vents itself into the airbox,so I doubt that water got in there.I was thinking maybe condensation from the rapid cooling of the engine when submerged while hot.Any ideas? Thanks!

I don't think it would condensate that much that quick. I have taken my recon through water hot before and did not experience anything like that. Be careful of the airbox vent though. Even though he was only in a foot of water, if he drove through it fast, water will rush through the vent tube going to the airbox from the front of the machine and dump a bunch of water in the airbox that will get into the engine. Have him to change the oil and run it for an hour or so and repeat it again to make sure he has as much moisture out of the crankcase as possible.

I would say there is definetly water in there. Have him change the oil until all the milkiness is out. this means DO NOT run the engine until it looks right. He may have to change it several times (more than likely) Another thing i have heard is to pour engine flush through it but i'm not too sure about this method. If the engine is run it could be severely damaged costing at least a few hundred to be fixed.
