to mr450cooper. do you ever have to adjust the needle jet in the 06 450er. i am playing with jetting and having a hard time. it is stock and the machine came with a 120 for sea level. i am about 3500 ft, so i put a 118 in and at about 75% and pinned it is completley loosing all power until it gets back to 1/2 throttle.. anythoughts???????????? i thought that it would be a little rich with the 120, i can't see it leaning out with the 118 that much at this elevation

the article on thumpertalk was in large part referring to the titanium valves; 04/05 models of the trx do not have titanium valves only the 06 has them. BUT thats not to say you should slack with maintenace....DIRT, and OIL BREAKDOWN are still your big enemies here.

the manual is fine for regular maintenace most people- the OEM wrote it -are they wrong? the manual is what going to be brought up in deliberation with the dealer and/or honda if there are ever any problems with warranty disputes or lawsuits. thats why they write them as a guide for you and as an @ss cover for themselves. i dont think its fair to say that their R&D didnt test anything out properly before writing it. honda prob has one of the best r&d's in the world. when they put a product out how many times does it have to go back to the shop? i had an acura (division of honda) it never went to the shop unless i wanted something done. same for every honda we have ever had, car, atv, dirtbike or motorcycle...
yamaha isnt too bad either but they have had more probs than honda with new atv stuff, ex: 2001 raptor tranny.... no one wants that to happen again so i think by 2004 they wised up witht he release of the YFZ.

back to topic- if you want to perform maintenace all the time, do it; but it is not necessary unless you are in extreme conditions and ride way more extreme than this bike was meant to be ridden.
