Even a tiny bit of dirt is murder on your valves, so service your air filter often! Good reason to NOT run a K&N.

Run extra oil in your trans, especially if you have an 06!

thats why if your running a k and n filter you should buy a uni filter cut out the yellow part spray it will filter oil and put it over, keeps out alot of dirt, just look at my pics, you can see the uni filter and the k and n filter in under works really good, might restrict a little more then just a plane k and n but it keeps out alot and is way better then stock.

yeah i wouldnt run a k&n either- they shouldnt even call it a filter.... in the article though, it hinted that the problem wasnt associated with stainless valves, only the titanium ones. the 04/05 450R has stainless ones, according to the specs; also some of the dessert riders were putting the ones from the 450R in the crfx's b/c they last longer...at least they did prior to the 06 model 450R... did honda go to titanium on the 06R?

titanium sounds cool until it starts breaking...then it isnt cool or funny, but expensive...

i always squirt a little extra in my tranny side too. not gobs but a little. i put the red bottle honda hp in there just like in the 250R tranny (what is was designed for). no probs in either machine and one is over 20yrs old.

but no arguments with assuring a clean engine: a clean engine is a happy engine, esp this one. and even more so with the 06 R........

yea honda is running two titaniuim intake valves and two stainless exhaust valves. if you guys think that is bad imagine if you owned a yamaha with a 5 valve titanium. im sure everymotor 4 stroke will be going to titanium valves just cause they are lighter and you can make more power, even if it causes more problems. but be glad you own a honda and not a yamaha. and if you run just a k and n take a look at my page and think about putting the uni filter over the k and n it helps keep alot more dirt out, if you have any questions pm me
