Default atv decision help

Hey everyone!
I have never owned an ATV before, but we just bought a new place with some land so I am looking to get one soon. I was wondering which ATV you would recommend. I was thinking between a Yamaha Blaster, or a Honda trx250ex. If you could also give me some pointers on how to shift gears, that would be helpful.
Thanks a lot

i would get a 250ex, they are very reliable and if you are buying a new one they have a sports clutch and are easy to learn how to use and can help u if u are interested in getting a bigger sport quad. They are easy to shift just let off throttle and clutch and changhe gears.

tring to make this simple as poosible, 250ex has a sports cluth which means you dont really have to cluth it u can change gears whithout using it,you can stop with out the motor dying, it is to help begginers learn how to use a clutch when they get bigger quads. The blaster is a quad that you have to use it to take off, stop and gear changes. hope this helps

Oh thanks! It helps a lot. but, what do you mean by motor dying? You have to clutch when you pressing the brake and come to a complete stop, or just when you are changing gears?

okay truegator59 the only time you need to clutch a quad is when you take off, change gears, and stop. when you take off just give it a little gas and let off the clutch slowly and it will take off, when you change gears just let off the gas completly and cluth it and change gears, when u want to stop clutch it and just brake (dont have to clutch to slow down just to stop) if u have anymore questions PM me and i will help u.

Check out Honda's website, they have an explanation of the sport clutch. The nice thing about the Honda is the sport clutch allows you to have a bike that doesn't care if you pull in the clutch or not. Either way it will work. So this could be a good way to learn how to use a manual clutch. If you get frustrated trying to use the manual clutch, you can still ride the quad without using the manual clutch and have a good time anyway.

But get what you like. Test ride each bike, a good shop will understand if you don't know how to use a clutch and provide some instruction.
