Default is the front of my Foreman locked?

i researched it, and from what i understood it would send power to the tire with the most traction. it doesnt. it acts more like an open diff...

If you tap the front brake, it will "reset" the diff. I think you will find this helpfull.

If you do a google search on torque sensing diffs, you find more info on them. Honda licenced the design from land rover, its the same one they use in the range rover and others.
It needs no additives, its all mechanical, and theres no wear items inside the pumpkin.
The reason one tire will spin, which is up in the air, is by design. The only way torque can transferr to the tire with traction, is if the spinning tire has SOME resistance. Its called bias...and its needed for the torque sensing type to work. If its up in the air, and has no resistance to spinning, it cant trasfer any torque to the tire with traction. It takes some practice, but the front brake will provide the resistance that the diff needs to transfer the power to the one with traction. Think of it as hondas answer to a locking diff. Its not perfect, but for 99% of riding it works very well. But its not for the hardcore mudders.
If you want a fully automatic locking diff, for a honda, get the detroit gearless locker..its not too spendy, and it does work as advertized.
