Who is happy with their stock honda?

Hey Guys,
Man oh man....you guys are too cool. It's good to see that members who are just looking for a fight are not tolerated. Opinions are what they are, we all are entitled.....but, it's all in the delivery.
I started out this thread with a small amount of quiet attitude, and many of you have taught me that not every modification is a result of "lack of appreciation". Not every quad owner who upgrades his/her machine does it merely for bragging rights, or because they have access to limitless funds.
I wanted to start a serious discussion while playing the devil's advocate....and it worked well. Look how many replies there have been....this is a hot topic.
Don't get me wrong, I still am happy with my two stock atvs.... I love riding, do it as often as I can.
Oh, and for the record.....starting with the 2006 model, the 250EX has a clutch. That was one of the reasons I held out on the EX for so long. So the 250EX has crept alittle closer in performance to the 300EX. That clutch makes a world of difference, especially on tight trails.

Partially it was in the interest of those who do modify their quads. Also, I was more than interested in the thread, considering half the fun for me is tweaking. I was honestly wondering how the other half lives. Given, I have more time than most, being a young'n and all, so maybe I fall in with the old saying, "Idle hands... are more likely to rebuild engines and install performance accesssories." I don't feel I was out of line posting my opinion, as it seems to me that mclaysa had taken what I said and added it to his collection of knowledge, as any wise man should. I didn't take up too much space either. On a lighter note, I think sbripple needs to go &%$# himself right off of a &*%$ing cliff and die a violent bloody death. Actually, I take that back. I'd really love to have a good quality race with that guy. I'd love to clean him out on any terrain he dare challenge me on.
And mclaysa's got the ticket with the 06' 250's clutch. Ain't that the bomb?

my honda 400ex is stock and i am very happy with it. It goes fast enough for me and everything else is fine.
But there are a few things i would like to get that i consider necessary mods. These things include full skidplates, nerf bars and handguards. These are all saftey mods that i consider very useful.

Yea. I've run over my feet too many times. I pretty much got nerfs when I got my bike.
Get the steel/aluminum wrap-around handguards, not the cheezy plastic flavor. My brother has "nice" powermadd ones and all they do is break off. Plus they're not what I'd consider a universal fit. The in house mechanic (me) had to modify his throttle housing and re-bend his brake levers for a fit that was decent, at best.

Yo,
Yeah, the clutch on the newer 250ex was a very smart move on Honda's part. For a tiny 229cc engine, it really does perform quite well....given its limitations. I do like having a shaft drive as well....no worries. Kinda my reasoning for the purchase....clutch ability with low maintenance features.
I have been considering one modification/addition to my happy little quad....a flag, but not just any safety orange flag....I'd like to have the flag-pole be like, thirty feet long....with this little orange wedge on top, ha! That would be great to show up at a serious racer gathering with something so ludicrous. Just to see the expressions. But I'd have to act all serious and not acknowledge it was even there....totally straight faced. That would be funny.
Or how about a joust? Any thoughts?

As for weird quad stuff, I've always been a fan of grass quad sledding. Tie a rope to your grab bar, get a cheap toboggan and let er rip! Also, on sand you can hold on to the grab bar and ski behind your buddy's bike with just your riding boots. I have a huge springy flag.
