Performance upgrades to Foreman 500
#1
So I just got my 500 ES and love it. I ordered the dynojet kit, K&N filter, and the performance exhaust tip. I was just wondering if anyone else has done that and if so how noticeable was the power difference? I decided I did not want to go in to deep on this one since it already had pretty good power anyway, so I just wanted to add these and see what I could get out of them. Anyone out there got comments about adding the dynojet, k&n, and performance tip?

Yeah, while you have the top of the carb off, clip about 8 rings off the spring. It will make the throttle respond faster. Have fun with your new toy, you are going to love it.

is there a noticeable difference in cutting the spring back? I have already installed everything and it feels pretty good now. Is it really worth taking that cover back off?

Time2Go, how was the power when it was stock, and how is it now? I know you basically have already asked the same question but i would like to hear your response. How do you like the sound of your machine with the performance tip compared to when it was stock? Where'd you buy these things from and do you regret buying it or not? Reason for asking is because im plan on buying a Green '06 Foreman ES within the next 2 weeks and were planning on doing these mods to it as well..

Yeah your right.. when I posted the response earlier I wasn't thinking about it. I realized that I didn't have to remove anything to do that part, just fold the rubber flap back and take the top off. I am going to try that today probably. I used the spring that came with the Dynojet kit so is that the same spring you are talking about cutting? or were you talking about cutting the stock spring in the event that I had not changed it out?

Hi JonJon. Well I upgraded from a rancher es model and the power difference was amazing. I had the 424 selector on my Rancher and also had installed the dynojet kit with K&N filter. On the rancher I didn't see that much difference, but on the 500 I did. I think in part since I upgraded the exhaust as well. So I ordered the billet aluminum exhaust tip off of ebay for about $45, then got the dynojet kit off of ebay for about $45 and the K&N filter for around $50. It was the best $150 I have ever spent. I notice the power difference in the low and mid range especially, which is where I really wanted it. I like climbing hills, creek banks, mudholes, jumping logs, small hills and having that extra boost on the low to mid side is perfect. so now riding along in 3rd gear in the woods and coming up on a mound or small hill the bike has that extra pep so when I pop the throttle is launches me.. I love this bike all the way around. Awesome power and the traxlok system especially. I forget sometimes though that the back wheels can't be spinning to fast in a mud hole in order for the 4x4 to kick in. I read up on it and it said there has to be less than 6mph difference between the turning of the front and rear wheels for it to engage. so you can be running 40mph and climbing hills or whatever and it switchs great, but if your in a mudhole and the front tires aren't moving then you have to remember to let off the gas and let the back wheels slow down first. I also love that this bike will crank in gear. Awesome, just hold the front brake and it fires up anyway, no more worrying with getting it in neutral. Finally you can't forget about those front disc brakes. Honda nailed this one... Good luck, your gonna love it.
