Warn does not make a product to turn a 2wd into a 4wd. They make a 4wd disconnect to allow 2wd operation. The transmission is very reliable. You just hear about the ones (ES) that did have some issue. Honda sells tons of these things.

You are correct Sir, I knew it was something like that. The AT comes with 2WD / 4WD selectable stock so i have never really looked into it much

I never had any power problems with mine, it does all I ask it to do on the trail. I went from the stock 24's to 25" Kenda Bear Klaws, not so much for ground clearance (.5" increase) as for the 6 ply rating. I ride in a lot of rocks and other tire unfriendly terrain. So I liked the idea of 6 ply. Plus the tire is more aggresive. It does ride a lot harsher than the stock tires. But since I mainly ride slow speed technical stuff, the harsh ride is unimportant to me.
I pull my ATV trailer around the yard with it moving leaves, logs, furniture and other junk without any problems. It feels a little slower on top end with the 25" Bear Klaws, but that could be cause I put a 12.5 on the back, maximum traction. I've never tried for max speed on it and I probably never will. Unless she is pretty enough and I'm dumb enough to believe a Rancher 350 would impress her.

There have been very VERY few problems with the tranny itself, it's the electronic sensors that cause most of the ES issues. Usually its the angle sensor, which is relatively cheap and a piece of cake to fix. Other times it's the shift motor, shift buttons or just plain consumer neglect and the clutch adjustment is never done.
I have 600 miles on my '05 with no problems at all. The engine is bulletproof for the most part, just do the maintenance in the owners manual and you'll be just fine.

they just sent out a recall, a few weeks ago i got the paper, warrentying the angle sensor
which in most cases with the es is the problem
im not sure if this is on 2wd es too or what but i know i got reinbursed for my fix in july

Congrats on the new Rancher. Check to see if there's a Cycle Gear store near you (cyclegear.com), or check newenough.com...they usually have pretty good prices on gear and excellent customer service.
