Did I mention it is 5 1/2 years old and still has the original battery in it? I have never charged it or removed it from the ATV and it sits outside covered all year.

 

Thanks for your input Specta, I was hoping you would chime in. I feel about my Rubi as you do. Even though in todays world of 800cc quads I still wouldn't trade it for one. I to am on my original battery and original everything even tires. I see you have 800hrs & 7,000miles. The owners manual figures the hrs/miles ratio as 100hrs or 600miles. I'm pretty close to that as I have a little over 300hrs and 2,200miles. You, however, blew that ratio out of the water. You must do alot on trail riding? Anyway I hope my rubicon holds up as well as yours has. I try to take care of it as you do, however, follow the owners manual at 100hrs or 600miles....usually for me the miles come before the hrs. Hi, our 05 Rubicon has a little over 4400 miles and around 544 hours on it. I just finished replacing the front wheel bearings(actually called the knuckle bearing) a few miles ago. I am on my second set of tires. So you still have a few miles to go before you need to replace yours. My starter is about to give out. Every so often, when I push the starter button it justs clicks once and I have to hit the starter with my hand to get it to start. Everything is original except for tires and front bearings. I probably need to get the valves checked. I don't think they have been checked since the first time they were checked. I love the Rubicon. I just wish they would either put the Rubicon transmission is a Rincon or make the shocks adjustable on the Rubicon.

 

i purchaced my rubicon the week they arrived in 2001.. Mine has been rock solid and I have not replaced a single thing, not even adjusted the valves (im only at 1100 miles) im right with specta with buying another one in a second- my friend picked up a 2006 rubicon (seen on the stump) and the updates to it are a nice addition both of ours run perfectly after hours of crazy abuse. Here are some camera phone photos of my use of the Rubicon this year as I used it to level my new lawn and went on a few rides in nasty mud with my bald stock tires- note my plastic is still red the camera just made it look pink.

 

Hi - I have just bought an '01 with 6200 k (~4500 mi?) and 7000 hours! I was a bit surprised at that once I got it home. It's our first atv and there was a lot to learn. Any guesses why it has so many hours compared to kilometres? And any guesses if it suggests potential problems?

Are you sure it didn't say 700.0 hours? If 7000 is correct he has done a lot of sitting. That is very unusual.

 

of left the key on for a week or two at a time, I leave my key on so the fan can run- then forget to turn it off

Hey, I bet that's it. I'm going to check tomorrow when I get out to the cottage. What a relief if I'm wrong. Had me quite shocked. Shocked, I tell you!

 

More pictures of how nice of a job a Rubicon ( or any quad for that matter ) can do if you build a simple drag that levels out a nice 20 foot section of ground, no more of those tiny dips or mounds, just nice level grass that mirrors a golf course for $0.00
