High milage Rubicon owners
My 2004 Rubicon just turned 300hrs & has 2,200 miles on it. I still absolutely love this quad. I have not done the first repair to this machine nor have I had a bit of trouble with it. Just change the oil. I'm on it nearly every day. Now, for my question....With the hrs & miles I now have should I be expecting any maintenance issues any time soon? Can I do any preventative maintenance to avoid a trip to the dealer as I continue to rack up the miles (really rack up the miles when the crops come out of the fields in the fall)? I've read about wheel bearings going out but there is no sign of this. Anything I should be keeping an eye on? Would really like to hear from Propnut and Specta or anyone else who has lots of miles on their Rubi. Thanks for any responces, Dan.

wish I could be more help here, but you have more miles than I do. My days of riding a ton of miles are few and far between now. I ride often, just not all day anymore.
I've just kept up with the engine/gear oil changes, valve clearance, and inspecting the brakes. Had to buy a battery, I knew the thing was weak within a month of when I bought it (would have cost me $60 in gas to bring it back to NH) and it finally died. A Battery Tender kept it alive for a while. My buddy's 04 has been trouble-free.
I didn't expect to have to fix anything and it's been that way so far. I don't go swimming in mud with it and keep it inside. The guys that mud a lot have most of the bearing/brake/electrical troubles.
Specta has the most miles on a Rubicon from what I've seen (on this board), but he hasn't had to replace much. Heard of an oil company in TX that had a couple with 50K on them (I would guess that's pretty light duty checking oil rigs, but...)

Follow the maintanence schedule in the owners manual. I do change the oil & filter every 500 miles, Valvoline ATV 4-stoke 10w40 oil and a Honda brand oil filter.
So far I have only replaced both upper contoil arm bushings, seals and shafts - less than $100 in parts. I am on my third set of tires. I replaced the originals at 1200 miles and they were still good. I replaced them with Goodyear Mud Runners (VERY HARD riding tires). I replaced them when they had 4000 miles on them and they were good for another 1000 miles easy. I have Maxxis Bighorn Radials on it now and I am very pleased with them.
We ride two up with about 75+ pounds of gear in the Rocky Mountains and have been up to the two headlights in water but only a couple of times.
Today I have almost 7000 miles and 800 hours and if I bought a new ATV today it would be another Rubicon. Maybe one day the other manufactures will figure out how to make an auto trans beside the old belt drive type, but I doubt it.
