I was all set to buy and '06 this past weekend for 5800 OTD until i found a brand new '05 for 5000 even OTd. My question is .....Is the '06 worth the extra 800 bucks. Would appreciate some help.

I have an 04 (same as 05), and two of my buddies have 06's. I think overall I prefer the 06. The power of the 06 comes on strong (it has a hit, kind of like a Banshee), were the 04's power builds more slowly. My 04 has an oil cooler, which the 06 doesn't have!

Only time will tell, which engine is going to be more durable.

I went through this same thing a few months ago (ended up with a YFZ though). When I figured it all out I ended up deciding that no, it wasn't worth the extra money for the 06.

Plus the 05 is kickstart which is so much cooler.

Iv heard that the engine on the 05 responds better to upgrades..+ the motor has an oil cooler which is a plus COOLER OIL TEMP MEANS A BETTER RUNNING ENGINE.
I believe that if you put the same upgrades on both its gonna be all rider. and since the 06 is geared down, the 05 wil have a greater top speed. oh and the 05 is about 15lbs lighter than the 06 (E-start) and about 3-5 pounds lighter than the 06kickstart.

Thanks you guys. From what i learned from reading some other forums, I called the dealer with the '05 and told him if he tossed in the HRC kit for 5200 even then he had a deal and he accepted. I appreciate all the help guys.

I just got an 07 about 2 weeks ago and love the thing you won't be dissapionted at all the ergonomics and engine are great just make sure you keep after the oil levels there is a window to check the oil you need to let it run for few minutes and let it warm up then check the oil level..and on the right side when you are sitting on the quad there is tranny oil so you also let the engine warm up and you take off the oil cap/plug whatever you want to call it and take the tranny oil check plug out(in the manual) and if you are low you will not see a small amount of oil come out and if you are good you will see a little come out. You will love it have fun.

One other thing make sure you keep a log so you will know when to check your valves I was told around 10-15 tanks of gas to check the valves.
