need help , 07 trx 450r air filter replacement

Don't bother with ANY aftermarket filter. The stock one flows and filters just as well. The '06 has a good filter. All the other filters are just a waste of money. If you do a web search, you will find that the stock filter makes just as much power on the '06...

I have to disagree with those who are saying this mod isn't worth doing........
First off, if you are one who neglects air filter maintenance, then you absolutely should stick with the stock filter and keep your lid on, for your own protection.
But, gaining horsepower is an incremental thing. No single mod by itself is going to make a dramatic difference. However, if you do a bunch of small things (intake, exhaust, cam, etc.), all of them taken together will make a noticeable difference.
A free flowing intake and opened up airbox, along with an uncorked exhaust, are the first basic mods one should make!

Performance air filters do work! Regular maint. like Recon says will keep your machine happy & dust free.
I suggest you try them before you bash them. If you don't notice a difference, its probably because you chose not to.
I am a believer - try one in your truck as well.

NOT ON THE '06 TRX!!!
Go find a dyno where the only change was the air filter and it gained power on the '06 450R with the airbox lid removed for both filters and I will eat my words. I've already seen this dyno comparison done and the stock '06 filter makes just as much power as the much touted K&N or other flters.
Results for all other quads are completely irrelevant (as is a filter change on a truck) because we are dealing with a specific quad (the '06 450R)...
Here is a link to the dyno runs with the only change being a stock filter and then a K&N...

Sandman is on the same page as me I guess. If you can't prove it then why buy it? An open airbox, exhaust and such will very often get you more power but not an air filter. I'm not going to beat this one to death, but I wouldn't buy anything (ever again) that hasn't proven itself in some way. Where's the dyno of a K&N making more power on a bike like his??? All I've got is every motorcycle technician I have ever known saying "don't do it." Yes, I have tried a K&N before with zero results. I am surprised how brain washed K&N has everyone.

Exactly!!! People think they just have to K&N due to the companies serious amount of $$$ advertising, when you usually all you get is an engine with more dirt passing through it.

I honestly have not had time to run my 450r with my K&N installed. Snowed 6" last week and busy with work.
However, I have ran my TRX 300+ with it and it seriously felt like I gained 1/2 of a gear. I am not about to get that dyno'd.
In my 98 Chev I had one as well - to me it felt like there was a gain.
Opinions are free.

Again - this was about the '06 450R, not a truck, not a 300ex, not a lawnmower... (just in case it comes up).
Other quads may or may not benefit from aftermarket filters. The '04/'05 450R needed aftermarket filters because the stock one was too small. That's not the case with the '06...
