Reverse and Electric Shift: 400ex: Help!
#22
Maybe it's the difference in riders or even the machines although the same models are suppossed to be equal. All I have on my Scrambler 400 is a pipe, different primary spring, jet & filter and I can beat a 400EX.
Who knows..

That could be Andrew. Not trying to sound cocky but it is to bad we live so far apart cause I would like to race you. Win, lose or draw> It really doesn't matter to me. I just like to ride and race for the fun of it. The guy I know with the polaris can't stand it and that is why he is modifying his scrambler. He was thimking about getting a 400ex but got the scrambler instead and now he is trying to prove to himself that he bought the best bike, according to his father-in-law. I told him he got the bike that was the best for him, what with all his hunting trips and all plus he has the sporty side of it. Me on the other hand just wanted a sport bike and since I prefer 4-strokes I got a 400ex. He still can't stand to get beat by me. Weather it be the bike or me. Probably the bike cause I don't think that I am anything special on quad. Any way have fun and ride safe.(when possible)

Stone Cold,
I think Polaris quality & reliability is better than ever. BUT, they aren't perfect yet and it wouldn't surprise me that 2 Scramblers made the same year, heck the same day even could be that much different if some quality control standards aren't met. Just a thought.
I looked at 3 quads before I purchased mine. The Banshee, The Sport 400 (my brother had one & I loved that big 2 stroke) & the 400EX. 2 reasons I didn't get the 400Ex...
1st> price. It was more than a 4WD Polaris (the Scrambler I have now) it didn't have reverse, ground clearance or that big 400 2 stroke. All for more money
2nd> The dealer was an ***. He really turned me off toward that bike. I know it shouldn't be a reason but it was. If he would have been cool who knows. I might own one now!
I went to the dunes in MI over the week-end and ran with some stock-tired 400EX's, lt250R with paddles!, a 250R & Warrior here and there. I was really happy considering my weight disadvantage. The 4WD helped a bunch near the top of big hills. I made my girlfriend real nervous though
