Mild 416 Build
#1
I wanna go with a 416 11:1 piston.... I want Ross or JE. Any suggestions? And what brand cam should I go with and what grind? I don't care if there is a core charge. I just want to do this mild build right and run it on pump gas. I don't know much about four wheeler Brands (like what to stay away from and what's good), I just want the best parts and what works good together. Also can I use gasket maker like honda bond or something for the base gasket for more compression? Or would it be a better Idea to run a base gasket? Anything else I should do for this build? I already have full exhaust and filter. My 400 needs a rebuild really bad. Can I get links as well where I can order the parts too? Thanks.

JE or Wiesco piston.
Hotcams Stage II for top end. This is a drop in cam with no valve changes necessary.
If you want to increase compression, do it with the piston, not gasket material!
Definately always use a base gasket!
It should still run on pump gas at 11.0:1

Wieseco and Hotcams are Budgets parts. THey are like the cheapest I have found I don't buy bottom of the line stuff. Come on now. I was thinking about Webcams 450/451, I can still use stock springs with that too. I would do a whole valve job and head porting but I don't think its worth the money since its just a fourwheeler I like to beat on. From what I understand Wieseco pistons compression ratio isn't very accurate. Another question, Should I buy a stock head gasket or something better. I remember when I changed my valve seals I put a cometic head gasket on it and that thing was paper material and the stock one was three layer steel.

You said you don't know much about 4 wheeler parts. Weisco and Hotcams may not be the most expensive out their, but that doesn't mean they aren't good.
If you want to buy the most expensive, go ahead, you don't need to ask here for opinions then.

THats a good point. After thinking about it more you have a good idea with the hotcam. Because I would rather just drop one in, I don't feel like dealing with webcams. Whats a good website to order a piston? What kind of head gasket do you perfer? I know I probly don't have to worry about this but the stock rod is plenty strong right?
