Thanks to all for the informative comments about your drum brake experiences. It seems they are "adequate" for some, but I suspect there would be few complaining if they finally put discs all around. My own experience was years ago with three Honda 3-wheelers that all had drums. I don't remember ever having to deal with brake issues, but our riding habits seldom got into deep mud or water either. And I had no disc brake machines to compare against.
Interesting side note. Today I heard Honda took 100 orders for their new Honda Jet airplane (small LearJet type). Couldn't help but wonder if it is equipped with Triple Sealed Drums on the rear.

My brakes have been toast for a while and I don't even use them much. Engine brake slows me down more than enough. But there is deffinatly grinding in there when I roll it around. I hate honda's "sealed" drum brakes

I hate Honda's brakes lol. The ones on my '00 Rancher 4x4 lasted maybe a year. Then the cables didnt actuate fully the levers on the rear drum stuck at will, some say drums are fine you just have to maintain them. Well, i maintain my stuff pretty well, but totally cleaning out drums and servicing them every month if you ride in alot of mud and water is for the damn birds lol. The brakes on my bud's Foreman 450 and Trx 300 4x4 did the same thing. After every ride i spray and clean out the discs on the front of my Brute 650i. I absolutely love the sealed rear brake, that is very nice. BTW is the new Suzuki sealed brake just Kawi's system since they have been affiliated before, or is it a design of Suzuki's own.....copycats lol. Good ridin fellas -joe
