I was clocked at 65mph on a 02 400ex with 17/48 gearing(or 17/43, not positive)

 

i dunno where all you guys live, but iv clocked my honda 250es no mods other then a 32mm carb , i was clocked at 78mph on a slightly hilly road pinned to the boards , gonna be clocking my 82 250r this summer port & polished bored over one size from stock . old school aftermarket pipe and v-force reeds and spacer

but i ride up in canada in ontario

 

You mean a 250ex? You mean 78 kilometers right?

Mine is a 416 stage two hot cam port and polished and it only goes 75

 

A stock 400ex goes about 65 mph. Add a few mods and you might get 70 mph out of it. To get much more than that requires extensive mods and engine work. Anyone claiming 90 mph has no concept of speed since they don't have a speedometer. Or they're just full of bs. Its still a great quad but it never had tremendous top-end speed. That air cooled engine just didn't make the hp of the newer liquid cooled 450 quads. But a stock 400ex will last a long time. It is a Honda after all.
