That story just makes me go ahhh. I can almost imagine the pain. I'm glad your alright. Don't sound like your ever going to have kids though.
Both ways have there fault. Engine braking on a steep slick hill is not a good thing. If your wheels lock then you have to gas it. How can that be good. I've taken my Rincon down some nasty technical hills that were covered with rocks. Two fingers is all it takes to use the rear brakes in 4 wheeldrive. And when in 4 wheeldrive it also works the front. Yes EBS is a nice feature at times. To me they are very few and far between. Other times EBS is a danger. Maybe a BUYER BEWARE to quote reconranger. Again it depends on who you ask. If you need EBS. so what. I don't. But don't start telling people that its basically a must have. If you can't reach your brakes, how are you steering? Maybe on that Can Am you can't but unless you forget we have 2 brake levers and a foot brake. If I can't reach one its not going to matter if I have engine braking because my Rincon will be continuing without me on it.

Im not going to argue with you Rinny lovers anymore. I owned the damn machine and I know all about its shortcomings. If you like your machine than good for you.IMO, its a way overpriced unit when compared to what the others have on the market.

Muddy,

There wasn't anything to ever "argue". State what you like/dislike and move on.

I'm guessing that unfortunately for you, there are a ton of folks that absolutely love their Rincon and would rather give up EBS on the downhills compared to what it does under "normal" riding conditions. Assuming that opinion differs from yours then so be it. This would be one boring world if we all wanted (& thought) the exact same thing.

Hey, I never said it was the perfect machine either, nor have I ever said that it's the right machine for everyone regardless of their personal preferences or riding.

This thread started out with jkane13 posting about how his first ride went, and a few people telling him to enjoy the ride, or suggesting other web pages.

I don't think it was ever intended to be another re-argument about the virtues of the Rincon.

I'm happy jkane13 has a machine he seems to like, and I'm glad Muddy4life also has a machine he seems to like...

Didnt you tell us on another thread that you already sold the King Quad and bought a Can Am 800? You must have really loved that King Quad. I would say the Can Am is the most overpriced compared to the others.

MACK,
Yes, I did say that I now own the Outty 800. I would still own the KQ had my wife not decided that she would rather start riding with me instead of riding her own machine,so I bought the Outty Max [2 seater] ....

One advantage of a MANUAL transmission is that if one is descending a hill and would like LESS ENGINE BRAKING......it is a simple matter to just upshift and PICK A HIGHER GEAR.......I probably do this a hundred times on every ride. But, when I do want that "stop you dead" engine braking in the steep nasty stuff, at least I have the option of getting it with a simple downshift! It's nice to have a choices when you want it, and not be stuck without any alternatives............

I imagine one can use ESP on the Honda Rancher AT or Rubicon to "hold" yourself in a higher gear, and accomplish the same thing?????

If you are on one of the belt drive automatics and want less EBS, what option is there but to gas it down the hill?

Several of the guys I ride with (huge guys) bought the Kawasaki V-Force. Turns out that it freewheels at low speed, something they had no idea about when they bought them. Turns out the first thing everybody did was change out the weights and springs in their centrifugal clutchs, to get some EBS......
