First Rincon Ride
#41
I didnt mean to slam anyone who wants more engine braking then the Rincon has, but I think anyone that does know how to ride wouldnt care that it has less EBS. I have been riding dirt bikes since the 70's and 3-4 wheelers since the 80's and if Im going to fast down a steep nasty hill I simply apply more brakes. To say that the engine braking is the same as going down a hill in neutral just proves that you havent ridin one.

I'm sure theres plenty of people who would like more engine braking. But if you look at the posts, The people with Rincon's don't really care. Now I switch out with a friend on his Can Am 800 all the time. And I'm sorry but the engine braking annoys the crap out of me. I love being able to let off the gas and coast. Honestly when riding pretty fast I think engine braking is kinda dangerous. If you come upon a small jump then you have to stay in the gas or you get thrown forward. Whereas on a Rincon you can just glide over it. So both have there pro's and con's. Does one out weigh the other? It depends on who you ask. I'll take brakes over engine braking any day.

Part of being SAFE on a steep downhill decend is being IN CONTOL of your ATV..And part of being IN CONTROL is going slow down a nasty decend,EBS is a great thing to have in this type of situtation.
If you feel like flying down the hill and risk injuring yourself, than thats on you.
Have'nt ANY of you guys EVER rode on a steep downhill descend where you had to position your body in an awkward way on your ATV that you could'nt even reach your brakes? This dont happen very often, but when it does,
CAN YOU SAY EBS!

Another part of being safe is not having your thumb slip off the throttle while someone is sneaking up on you getting ready to pass and suddenly you quickly decelarate. It's a safety issue both ways.
Agreed that if you ride a lot of rocky, dry, downhill slopes, engine braking is nice. If you are towing 10-20 tons it also comes in handy. :-P

No one said you had to fly down the hill, just use your brakes and go as slow as you want. I think using your brakes on a slippery hill is alot safer then EBS because if your wheels lock up you can release the brakes enough to get the wheels rolling again. With EBS if your wheels lock up you have to upshift or accelerate and personally those are the last things I want to do on a step slippery hill.

Mack good point. I know when I am pulling the kids in the tube with my Sp600 the ebs is a pain because you cant just coast around turns. Once you let off it slows down too fast and the tube will hit the rear. Also it really sucks on icy roads. You let off and then you automaticly slide. Thats why I ride my rincon more in the winter even though the sp is heavier so its better in the snow.

Funny story. "well funny now"
About 3 weeks ago i was doing a very steep down hill on my rancher 400at.
It was way to steep and i was going down it at a angle and i was pushing over small trees and shrubs.
It was so steep i was hangin off of the back side of it . It was all i could do to reach the handle bars and stay leaning off the back of the bike at the same time.
Well it fliped over and shot me over the top of it . I some how jamed my left hand into the front rack and all of the rest of my weight jamed my crotch into the end of the right handle bar. The very end of the bar.I hit so hard it bent it! It bent it good to ..I was in to much pain to straiten them out, some one else had to.
I landed on flat ground with the bike almost on top of me . My fingers jammed and my you know what felt like it was kicked by a horse! There was some pain for 2 weeks. and a bruise for 1.
Compression braking or regular brakes, no brakes, belt drive hoopajoop. Whatever the heck it is just be carefull.
