New 2006 Yellow Rubicon
I asked the other day in here about which would be the best ATV for me, a Rincon or Rubicon. Well to make a long story short i have always liked the color yellow on an ATV, don't ask me why. Since the dealership no longer had any 2006 Rubicons in the color yellow, i had made up my mind on the Rincon. I went to the dealer today to take another look and guess what was on the lot. A 2006 yellow Rubicon. Honda had delivered it to the dealership the day before. My wife and i both rode it with her almost throwing me off the back when she drove. I bought it and added 27" mudlites. The question is, is there anything i need to know about this machine that will help towards maintence, care, and is it going to operate at the high altitudes of Colorado? Thanks

Is it going to get left in Colorado, or are you just going there for occasional trips??? If it is staying at high altitude, just rejet it and go ride. If it will be up and down, it isn't practical to be rejeting all the time, so here is what I do........
My typical mountain ride starts out at 4,000' in the valley, and ends up over 10,000'. So, that is a 6,000' change in altitude, on one day's ride! It's not like you can stop and rejet out on the trail. What I do is install some Thunder TPI valves in the aribox lid. I open them as I ascend, and close them when I descend. And at over 9,000', I just pull the airbox lid off altogether. This gives the engine more air at high altitude, and effectively does the same thing as a rejet. Works well, and saves you the hassle of rejetting all the time!
