well seeing what this year has to offer and the temperatures that we had today i decided to get a engine block heater? has anyone got one or seen one, after coming home from school i went out and tried to start up my EX and it would not even crank over once... also has anyone seen an oil sump heater, i've seen the ones in the polaris booklets and was wondering what people thought about them... any info would be great

I've seen magnetic block heaters before. Just stick it to the side of your case and plug it in.

Kind of tough to stick a magnetic heater to an aluminum case

I've got some electric heat tape (like that used for pipes) I'm going to wrap my oil tank, then just plug it in for a while before I go riding...

Not the best looking setup, but I think it will help the bike to have the oil pre-warmed.

I really need to work on using more brain cells - not quite sure what I was thinking! But it sure seemed like good idea at the time.

Thanks 01trx400ex.

Heating the oil tank with out circulateing the oil is useless I would think but a magnetic heater could be placed on the tank or else an electric dipstick heater. I think heat take around the head is where you need it. Ether or a jump or pop start are alternatives but I haven't had a prob yet, my 453 fires up instantly, run it half choke for a minute and then no choke, so far I have ran it when it was 4 degrees, COLD!!!
