When storing a quad, is it recommended to put the quad on blocks? Should the tires be in the air? I was just reading the manual and this is what it stated to do. How does this help? Does it save the shocks in some way? Thanks for your help.

It helps the tires from going flat when stored on concrete, and keeps the tires from the elements when stored on soil.I guess it would help the shocks by keeping them from being compresseed by the weight of the ATV.

1. drain gas from tank and carb
2. pour one table spoon of oil in plug hole and kick over a few times to coat the cylinder
3. oil chain
4. yep, put it on blocks to keep the springs from sacking and the tires from cracking

Feb 00 Dirtwheels page 26 response to a letter about long term storage, good advice including: Clean machine, warm up machine, shut off fuel and let motor run carb dry, change oil, turn motor over to distribute oil, drain fuel tank, put WD-40 in fuel tank, slosh to prevent rust, remove plug and squirt in a little motor oil, turn motor over to coat cylinder, remove battery, jack machine up on blocks, reduce tire pressure to 1# and a few others.

But why do you want to do this?

Go forth and ride.

I read that article too. I didn't get the WD40 in the tank part. Does anyone still make a metal tank? I don't think so.

Figured there are still some metal parts, like in the petcock that might benefit from this procedure

I live in MN and store my Rancher for 5 months in Winter. I run the gas to less than a quarter tank and run the bike for 5 plus miles with Fuel Stablizer in the tank. It is kept on a trailer which someone told me is better than concrete. I run in the spring for about 5 miles to get good and warm and change the oil and filter. This has worked for quite a few yaers on multiple bikes with no problems.
