Hey Lefty,

My wife and I are just about to buy a honda 250trx and a rancher 420. And you peaked my curiousity about your purchase of the suzuki 250 and the honda 250 trx. What made you buy one of each, instead of two hondas? Ive researched both 250s and they appear very similar on paper, except for ground clearance. Ive also read that the honda is faster on the long stretch, but the suzuki has better suspension. Both get great rider reviews.

I would be interested in hearing your rating of the two and your opinion on the differences (good and bad) after you get in some ride time on both.

Thanks

Couldn't decide between them, so you bought one of each?????

Like most quads and dirt bikes, the little EX comes with lame tires. They are balooney in back and make the quad push a little in front. I highly suggest a switch to the new ITP TracStar radials. They really improve handling and also contribute a lot to the suspension and ride comfort.

You can do the basic things like vent the airbox (not to much....the little EX can only stand so much air), an aftermarket air filter (I like UNI foam), and a muffler.

Hey lefty
i have a 03 and i can tell you a great set of tires is a good ideal for the rear i put a set of itp 10' aluminum wheels and a set of razors on the back they work awesome! I also put a DG pipe and jets and uni air filter and just took the lid off air box, had know problem with water in box , it sound awesome, a great bike for the trails, at the end off the month i am going to buy a performance rev box and im look in to buy a big bore kit and cam after i do all that ill let you know how it holds up. but one thing that sucks is i cant find anything for the rear end or transmission so if you know anything about that please let me know. well good luck.

Thanks you all for your responses!! I really appreciate your help! I will make sure I change the tires on my honda! do you recomend I do the same on the suzuki? And as far as me decideing on which one toget like you said "ryeguy1) they are almost identical! The only reason I got two different ones was because of the cololrs they come in. My wife wanted a white frame so I went with a black one. Thanks guys!!

I like my honda because of the hand clutch option it has, my wife likes her's because she just has to hit the gears with out the confusion of the clutch. They both seem to have the same "pick up and go" I am planning on taking them out this weekend I will be able to tell a little better! I will let you know!

how big are the 2 of you? i'm happy you all like your bikes but how come you got 250cc bikes, rather then a 350/500cc bike?

Lefty,

I thought the honda 250 could also be shifted without the clutch. I am looking forward to your follow up on the two bikes after your weekend ride.

Thanks.

I weigh 195 and my wife is 115. The reason I got the 250's is because we are "very" new to riding and I did not want to over buy my first bikes. I assume that after we get pretty good we can upgrade to something bigger and stronger!! And the 250's will be passed on to my two kids! Hey Ryeguy your right, you can also shift up without the clutch on the honda, but I like to just have that option on the Honda. Unlike the zuzuki doesnt give you that option!
