Looking for advice from those of you who have experience on Drive on Drive off trailers made specifically for ATV transport. I will be transporting 2 quads. Can you give me an idea on manufacturers, cost, and any advantages over tradional tilt trailers. Thanks in advance for your help.

 

hey pt i just bought a trailer at a local dealer with a ramp that also serves as a tailgate. i don't have the manufactor right off hand,as soon as i look i'll send it to you. it's 4x8 big enough for 1 quad they do make bigger ones. i love it. it sure beats the hell out of loading it in the back of a truck. i paid $700 for traler and the receiver installed on my truck.

 

Hey PT4Spines-That trailer is made by Triton, it called the SR8. I bought one this past season for $1200 dollars. I love it, couldn't be better. Drive on one side, drive off the other. The trailer is made of aluminum and only weighs in at about 300lbs. Best investment we have ever made. Big enough for two good size quads, and the sides fold down for storage. We also welded a storage box onto the front for gas cans and other gear. If you would like I can email you a picture of it.

 

i recently made my dads old 5x10 ULT trailer into a drive on drive off by simply welding gate hinges on the 4' steel web tailgate. Just drive on and pick up the tailgate and lock it shut with a paddelock and go. I will have to snap a pict of it.

 

I have a Big Tex trailer with a gate in the back. It is 5x14 and cost me $1300 out the door with reg.

I can fit 2 quads easily. I love the feeling of just driving it up on the trailer after a race. Only bad thing, since it takes so little time to load up, I end up helping my firends lift theirs into there trucks.

 

triton trailers that lilgirlblue is talking about is the one I recomend. there trailers are built great. Look at their website and look at the snowmobile trailers. I like them even better. holds the quads side by side facing forward. You get them in all different lengths, to hold 2,4,6 or even a tandem axle that will hold 8 quads. great trailers. the website is www.tritontrailers.com. good luck

 

There is a Product test in the ATV magazine. Winter issue, about the triton. It rates it very high and recommends it to anyone. You can read that article if you go to: www.atvnews.com

 

I just went to the atvnew.com site, and to my dissapointment cannot find the review on the triton trailer. If you can find a ATV magazine winter addition, which I have, you can read the report on the test. If you email them, maybe they will send you a free magazine subscription, that how I got them. Just found a phone #: 800-786-5634. This # says atv sport, but they may know about atv magazine.

 

Only thing about the snowmobile trailers is that they are so wide. It is much easier to drive with one that is narrower, especially if you have a smaller vehicle. But all the tritons are nice. Only thing I didn't like was the ones that tipped down to ride on them. They aren't very steady when it comes to putting on the second quad.

 

lilgirl are you sure thats not the SL8? I was looking at that one and that sounds like the one your talking about. $1200? new? send a pic of it if you can,,,,,thanks texasmm@hotmail.com
