my sons did to but if you brake tq it just bring up the rpm a little then open her up it would respond i put a stage 1&2 dynojet kit and k&n air filter with no air box lid and fmf megamax with all the disc in and it still did it a little but it woke it up on the power side of things. you can try to adjust the clutch up a little to wear it wants to move with out giving it gas then back it off a little {but make small adjustments only} if it was to tight and you put it in gear it could brake first gear and or take off on ya at an iddle ye ha

Welcome to the forums both of ya...I would start with your gas makign sure that you aren't running out of gas, but what I think your problem is the jets and your carb is dirty...Try taking the pilot and main jet out and spray carb cleaner through the holes making sure you can see light through them when you are done and make sure there isn;t anything floating in the bowl of the carb...I am guessing it repsonds similar to my neighbors which ended up being a dirty carb and it runs a little better when the choke is on...Take the carb apart and see if that makes a difference and make sure your gas is on and that your airfilter is clean...If you still don't get it I would get a new plug if you haven't gotten one recently...If you still can't get it for some reason you can try adjusting the adjuster screw on the carb...Let me know how you make out and if you need any help.

Default 250ex Problem

alright thanks bombrider04, i was thinking it might be the carb, we bought it after basicly sitting around for a while so my guess would be the carb is a little gunked up, i just wanted a second opinion before we tore into it.

i also got a second question if you dont mind. I know this isnt the suzuki forum and ill ask in there too. My dad just bought a Z400 brand new a couple weeks ago. This thing will not idle at all, it sputters at times like its low on gas or somethin and will die driving even if you pull the clutch in. Heres the bad part, both times we've taken it to the dealership it runs FLAWLESS, we cant make it die, so they cant find the problem if it runs perfectly there. We got no idea what to do, so you got any pointers
thanks in advance

nvm about the Z
we found out that my dad was turning the choke on thinking it was off
and we've yet to clean the carb on the 250ex but im still suspecting it to be the culprit

Make sure you have the choke off on the 250 also just as a precaution.
