So did your brother ever decide on a quad? You were right about the banshee being fast. The guys I ride with we all say the same thing, "Nothing beats a banshee except a faster banshee, atleast when you are talking dragging up the hill." Banshees are fast and great bikes but they were built with one thing in mind, go fast straight. Horrible handling, no low end torque, heavy and that lovely powerband that feels so cool. The fourstrokes can not compete with that in regards to straighline power or even more important that feeling of going fast that all two strokes have when they hit the powerband. That doesn't mean fourstrokes are not fast, not at all, they just deliver their power smoother so it doesn't feel as fast. In fact a lot of pro riders will tell you the two strokes feel faster but they turn better lap times on the fourstrokes because they hook up so well, don't jerk you around as much and don't break loose the tires as easily.

In regards to what your bro should buy. He needs to decide what type of riding he wants to do and what he wants his bike to do. If it is mainly dragging get the banshee, but know he will be sacrificing handling for it. I can tell you I ride with some fast banshees who will smoke me up the hill but when it comes to duning they can't touch me with my 250R (330 big bore kit, lonestar frame, PEP shocks and more). The handling gives me the edge, they can't use all of their power. In fact a big bore 250R might be a good compromise for him. They eat up a lot of modified banshees, handle great, get good low end torque for some trail (not as friendly as a fourstroke) and have that awesome 2 stroke powerband punch. Now if he wants something newer the new 450 - 700 fourstrokes are great bikes. They all offer something a little bit better than the other but sacrifice somewhere else. The group I ride with range from Banshees's, 250R's both stock or modded, YFZ 450's, TRX 450's, Raptor 700, LTR 450 and some 400's too. Everyone likes their own bike for some reason or another. That is what your bro needs, maybe it is a banshee. They ruled the dunes for a long time for a reason. Problem today is so many good quads to choose from. But remember to tell your bro, if he is going after being the fastest guy, be ready to keep ponying up some $$$, there will always be someone who is willing to spend more $$$. And that guy is usually the one with the fastest bike. To me it is not a game worth playing. I find a bike I like and meets my needs and then let my skill get me their fast and fun.

 

I have a highly modified 400ex and my friends have the new 450kfx and ltr450. There both great machines for motocross but on the straights I go right by them. The fastest on the market is not so fast if someone else has done work to theres. Thanks, Jim

When i made my first reply to this thread i thought the topic was what was the fastest four stroke quad on the market ? And even though they weren't on the market yet i suggested waiting to see how fast the New AC Thunder Cat 1000 with the 950cc engine and redesigned chassis is !

But i was ask by devil380 what does the Golieth weigh ?

And you don't need to up the cc's for more power , so since the AC Thunder Cat 1000 wasn't and still hasn't made it to market yet as far as i know !

I haven't been to my Dealer in month's to see if they have them in yet allready , so i don't know if she's has them yet ; but she had been promist by AC that she would the first 2 in Ga. 1 Reagular and 1 LE model !

But after checking this thread since my first reply , i got an email with this post again ; and i have read replies from most of my fellow forum member's with replies talking about the fastest four stroke quad on the track ; when all along i thought the post was for the fastest stock four stroke on the market !

No disrepect to devil380 or anyone else on the fourm's , but i have
seen the proto type model and the extra weight come's from the engine and two extra inche's to the lenth of the wheel base only ; but they have lowered the seat height over 5 inch's for a feeling of sitting in the quad instead of on top of it whitch took alot of the weight off the old chassis design making it lighter than the older design !

But i didn't know the thread was only for stock sport atv's and modded moto cross quad's , but i guess utility atv's don't count in this catagory and thread ; but it didn't hurt to look !

oh defiantly the yfz is faster ,even i have out run ltr's, even ones that have been cherryed
take a yfz ,do the cam mod, fci intake, uncap it ,them things just get it. with 450r's ya have to spend a whole lotta cash to beat a yfz

I have 2 EX400 Honda,s great quad,s+I had a 660 Raptor,then I bought a 2005 Banshee used.I ride with friends with 450 Honda,s and a couple 700 Raptors.We ride in the desert mostly.I dont like Pismo!!!!!!!!!! To many crazy people.I also have a 250 Sport suzuki.Real nice little trail quad.The Banshee was stock when I got it,loved to ride flat desert rodes with it,But it was getting tried.And the other guys made fun of it and out-run me.Well,I did a-little research on them,I SENT THE jUGS OFF AND HAD THEM BORED AND PORTED by HerrJugsRacing,he got a-little carried away with the port job,when I put it back togather it drop to 107PSI COMPRESSION ON THE STOCK HEAD,I milled the head 35TH,s and got 117Psi,still Low. So I decided to go ahead and build it up some more!!!!!!! Putt FMF fatty,s +there silencers on it+ a Noss head with 20mm domes, running 145PSI now,200 watt ricky stater with ada plate, run +4 advance,installed a battery,and lite kit so I can see at nite.Hot CDI box,raised the rpm limit,put 22in tires on rear and droped a tooth on the motor sprocket,so I am higher geared.Remover Tors,Installed K&n slip on filters with socks.After market Coil hotter spark.Had to put Barnet clutch in it.Now the guy with the 700Raptor is trying to figure out someway to HOP it up!!!!!!!!!!! On Flat desert dirt,I get ahead of him and he will just back out of the Raptor because he says my Hole-Shots throw rocks all over him!!!!!!! The 450 Honda is a JOKE,I can take him in 5TH gear!!!!!!!!!! They dont Laugh at my 2 smoker anymore!! I just sold the 660 Raptor I had,The Banshee spoiled me.Granted there old out-dated machines,and are touchy!!! But Just for a all out Hual-*** quad there hard to beat, And you have to Kick start them.And no reverse.And this one isnt built to the limits you can go!!!!!!!
