Default fastest four stroke on the market?

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Yes polaris has some good quads with good suspension but think about it, they don't use their own engines in their newest sport quads(fuji 500 or ktm 525/450)</end quote></div>

Polaris owns 25% of KTM so 25% of the otlaws motor is a Polaris.

Polaris 25% of KTM link

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>In the fiscal or business year ending in 2005, KTM Sportmotocycles AG delivered 80,000 motorcycles worldwide and began a partnership with Polaris Industries. Under the terms of the agreement, the two companies will help one another to extend their brands into the other's home market, KTM extending their reach into North America, and Polaris extending into Europe. This partnership is a two year trial arrangement, at the end of which both parties are giving the option of merging the two companies into one. In 2006 KTM announced that the partnership with Polaris had been ended early, and would instead only supply their 525cc RFS engines to the ATV manufacturer. KTM also announced their intention to enter the ATV market with either a late 2007 or 2008 model-year release.</end quote></div>

just wondering what is the fastest four stroke you can buy on the market today?
i have ridden
yfz450
trx450r
400ex
raptor 660

and none of them seem as fast as the 2 stroke banshee to me.

i own a 450r and love it but my older bro wants to buy "the fastest four stroke on the market"

is it the suzuki 450?
raptor 700?
or?

Simple answer is you can't buy from a manufacturer what your looking for. If the Banshee is your benchmark then buy one and mod it till your happy.

Fast is a relative term measured by each individuals experiences and butt-o-meter results. What's fast to you may not be to me and vice versa. My definition of fast is (with each given machine) power levels beyond the usable level of man and machine, in other words improper throttle control results in undesirable results lol....

its crazy to think of how meny great quads are out now. there are probaly 7-10 quads that chould be argued that they are the fastest.i think for a 4-stroke in a drag the fastest is going to be a raptor 700 or a ds650 when all the way tricked. as far a track goes the 450s when modded are all going to be about the same. as far a stock goes here my list for track.

1.KTM 450

2. Suzuki LT450R

3.Kawi 450

4.yfz450

5.honda 450

6.polaris 450</end quote></div>

On the track i think it would be this:

1-LTR450
2-Polaris 450
3-ktm 450 (same as polaris but 6lbs lighter, however, it is narrow just like the honda, yamaha, canam and kaw)
4) DS450
5) kfx450
6) yfz450
7 trx450r

but by no means are any of those slow. they are all fast enough get you killed if you were feeling particularly depressed.

I guess dirt wheels needs to have a shootout with about 10 different 4 strokes so we know which quad to buy and maybe they could list the top speeds on different surfaces such as soft dirt, hard pack and sand. My opinion is most of them are so close to the same top speed in stock form it probably shouldn't be the deciding factor.

I have an 05 Honda 450r motor in my quad and my buddy that I ride with the most has an 07 Honda 450r with more mods than I have, I also have friends that ride Raptor's, YZF's and even 2 strokes but I still haven't found myself saying: If I would have bought that Yamaha and got that extra 1 MPH I know I would have caught him on this 10 mile stretch.

Most of the 4 stroke sport quads out there in the 450cc to 700cc range are fast and can be made to out run the other. It depends on how much money you want to spend and are you looking to out run everyone on the drags, top end, mx track or cross country.
