2006 trx450er starter issues

My starter seams to be getting much worse, it only engages 1 out of 4 times.
it seams to just spinn the other times ( sounds like it is misaligned) however it
has never been loosened and it's a new bike !

Its most likely the starter clutch. the 450er are bad for that. Ive already replaced mine once to. just make sure when you are starting the bike you NEVER touch the gas while cranking it.

does that entale replaceing the entire starter itself?

nope the starter clutch is actually a gear assembly inside of the transmission side case. all the starter motor does is spin it dont move in or out.

call you honda dealer and have them run your vin there is a recall out. i already had mine done.

I have an '07, and recently had mine done under warranty. Sorry, but I can't give you specifics about what was done.

As stated earlier, contact your dealer and ask them to run the VIN.
